Workload will be 10-40 hours a month based on:
- The legal criteria for the age of the youth
- Availability
- Program needs and opportunities
Compensation:
- $16.90 per hour with opportunities for a 50 cent raise after each year of employment.
- Volunteer only
- A mix of hourly wage and volunteer
General Duties:
- Attend regular training sessions with DN Reads Staff and Assigned Mentor
- Attend regularly scheduled tutoring or programming sessions
- Share ideas for program development and collaborate to develop the Peer-Tutoring Program
- Serve as a public representative of the DN Reads program by behaving as a healthy role model
Tutor Duties:
- 1:1 Homework help
- 1:1 Tutoring in line with SMART goals
Library Support Duties:
- Assist with creating library programming
- Assist with current library programming
Qualifications:
- Working in a team and independently
- Eagerness to continue learning and developing skills
- Ability to articulate ideas and seek deeper understanding of others’ ideas through listening, reading, speaking and writing
- Interpersonal skills
- Time management
- Attention to detail and adherence to policies
- Computer literacy
