Support Your Library with Your Dollars

As a Special District the Del Norte County Library receives 1% of some of the property taxes in Del Norte County, this is enough to support our basic operations, but doesn’t allow us to expand or offer many of the services that libraries in more affluent areas can provide. We’d love to do more for our community but are severely limited by our funding and small space. Grants help, but are often very specific and don’t meet the needs of our area. So, we want to put it back into the community!

If you have the ability to help support the Library, the Library can help support the community! We’ve opened a crowdfunding campaign through Zeffy, and you can choose to make a monthly (or one-time), tax deductible pledge to help our library. All these donations will be added together to meet our goals! 

Here are some of the things we could provide if only we had the funding:

Goals:

$100 Monthly- Build out the Library of things! We’d love to check out items that people need! Things like board games, specialty baking pans, even park, museum and pool passes! With $100 extra a month we could afford to store, catalog and begin acquiring items that people need, but maybe don’t need to own themselves!

$300 Monthly- More Events! With $300 more a month we could increase our children's and families programming! Adding extra events, buying more supplies, and increasing the frequency of our most popular ones!

$500 Monthly- Mail order Library! Ever wanted to check something out from the Library but weren’t able to get there? At this funding level we would be able to begin a mail service, sending our materials to folks within the County along with a prepaid envelope to send them back when the checkout period ends!  

$1000 Monthly-  Increased staff pay! At this level we can afford to give our wonderful staff a raise! 

$1500 Monthly- Extended Hours! Have you ever wanted to grab a book or movie to watch after work? Want to attend a library event that runs later in the evening? Wish the Library was open on Sundays? With this level of funding we can consider staying open 5-10 extra hours a week! We’d put out a community survey to see when would be best for the community.

$2000 Monthly- Maker Space! Want to learn to use a 3d printer? Make buttons, graphics, vinyl wraps? At this funding level we can make space for and start buying equipment for a Library Maker Space! 

$3000 Monthly- Technology available for Checkout! With enough funding we can have technology available for checkout! Laptops, projectors, document cameras, mobile hotspots, even learning tablets for kids! 

$4000 Monthly- Book Mobile! We'd love to get out to the far flung areas of our county more often, or provide book for checkout at community events. At this level of funding we can buy, stock, and staff a book mobile to make sure the Library can come to anyone in Del Norte County!
