ANNOUNCEMENT

Library Services

In order to ensure the health and well-being of our staff and patrons, the Crescent City and Smith River libraries will be closed until further notice.  During this time, the Crescent City branch is offering curbside services. Please subscribe to our newsletter to receive all of our latest updates and announcements.

What Is Social Distancing? Social distancing is a way to keep people from interacting closely/frequently enough to spread an infectious disease. Schools and other gatherings such as movie theaters will close, and sports events and religious services will be cancelled.

What Is Quarantine? A quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who have been exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.

What Is Isolation? Isolation prevents the spread of an infectious disease by separating people who are sick from those who are not sick. It lasts for as long as the disease is contagious.

How to practice social distancing:

  1. Stay home.
  2. Maintain distance (approximately 6 feet) from others whenever possible.  In particular, it is important to maintain that same 6-foot distance from anyone who is demonstrating signs of illness, including coughing, sneezing, or fever.
  3. No hugs, handshakes or touching.
  4. Thorough hand-washing is important for protecting not only yourself but others around you, because you can spread the virus to others even without symptoms. Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water at any time you enter from outdoors to indoors, before you eat, and before you spend time with people who are more vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19, especially older adults and those with serious chronic medical conditions.

On March 19, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a stay at home order to protect the health and well-being of all Californians and to establish consistency across the state to slow the spread of COVID-19.
